How to Make the Child Morally Sound in Thinking

Many people think that morality justifies their actions. However, many people actually do not know that their morality is based on their own culture and religion. Many actually forget that there is a divers number of cultures and religions around the world. The following are five straightforward tips which should help you raise your child into someone who is morally sound and who is accepting of the diversity of the people around them.

1. Acceptance of differences. Many people are focused on individual differences - faith, race, color, wealth, etc. Once people overcome these petty factors and zero in on the fact that we are all humans and we share the same DNA, then hopefully there would be fewer conflicts. In truth, once everyone accepts the individual differences, then there would be no problem in accepting the petty differences.

2. Respect for the rights of others. Again, if only people can overcome their focus on petty things like sex, race, and color. Here is where human rights should come in. After people get to respect that individual people hold independent lives and ideals, then there would be fewer disagreements.

3. Accept the many religious beliefs. There is no doubt that everyone knows the existence of diverse religions. Unfortunately, knowing and acceptance are confused. Many still think that because they believe in a certain way, they have the right to push their beliefs on others. People who raise their children to be more accepting of the diversities in religious beliefs, then they would be better accepting of their neighbors and regard them as their equals.

4. The Law should be respected. Children should be taught from the very beginning about what the law considers as right and wrong. Unfortunately, many parents are hypocritical of this one aspect in life. They teach their children that stealing is wrong and yet they allow their children to have 'fun' by obtaining something which they do not own because when they were kids they also had fun doing it. The children see their parents as their role models. They should not think that because they are older they are exempted.

5. A family unit based on love. The family unit is the core of morality, no matter the race, culture, religion and environment. If the family unit is loving and accepting, then children will grow up to be the same. As there are now diverse family units, it is important that children be taught the diversities and to be accepting of it. Parents who point to their children the differences in family units and then claim they are different from ours will only raise a child who will feel un-accepting.
